Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using the Beach Passport website ("Site"), operated by Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not accept these terms, you must not use this Site.
Beach Passport - QANTAS Points Giveaway Full Terms & Conditions
A) Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these conditions of entry. Entry into the promotion is deemed acceptance of these conditions of entry. Entry is made when the participant completes the Surf Life Saving Australia - Beach Passport and provides the required personal information.
B) The Promoter is Surf Life Saving Australia LTD ABN 67 449 738 159 of Level 1/1 Notts Ave, Bondi Beach, NSW, 2026.
C) Entry is open to all Australian permanent residents over the age of 18 years who fulfil the entry requirements set out below. Employees and their immediate families of Surf Life Saving Australia, Qantas and suppliers, providers and agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible. The promotion commences 9:00 AM AEDT Monday, 19 November 2024 and concludes at 5:00 PM AEDT on Wednesday, 30 April 2025.
D) Entry requirements
To enter the promotion, participants must:
1) complete the online Beach Passport coastal safety training course from Surf Life Saving Australia between 9:00 am (AEDT) on 19 November at 9.00am and 5:00 pm (AEDT) on 30 April 2025;
2) retain their proof of completion be in the draw;
3) agree to receive email communications from Surf Life Saving Australia;
4) be over the age of 18 years on the date on entry; and
5) be a Qantas Frequent Flyer member on the date of entry. A joining fee may apply. Membership and points are subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program Terms and Conditions, (Eligible Entrant).
Secondary prizes (150 points per person)
All Eligible Entrants will be awarded 150 Qantas Points. The Qantas Frequent Flyer members' full legal name must match the name registered on their Qantas Frequent Flyer account. Qantas Points will be fulfilled within 8 weeks post entry into the competition.
Major Prize 1 Million points
1. All Eligible Entrants will be entered into the major prize draw. There is one major prize of 1,000,000 Qantas Points (Prize). The Prize draw will occur at 1:00 PM AEDT on 21 May 2025.
2. Draw will be conducted in the presence of an independent scrutineer at the Surf Life Saving Australia Foundation, 190 Montpelier Road, Bowen Hills, QLD 4000. The Promoter's decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
3. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and Eligible Entrants (including an entrant's identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
4. The first valid entry drawn will be deemed the winner (Winner). Qantas Points may take up to 8 weeks to be credited to the winner’s account from the draw date (or any redraw date, as applicable).
5. The Winner will be contacted in writing within 7 days of the major prize draw and unclaimed prize draw directly by Surf Life Saving Australia. The Winners details (last name, first initial and postcode) will be published online at Surf Life Saving Australia (https://www.sls.com.au) within 7 days of the major draw and announced via social media.
6. The total prize pool of the competition is 1 million Qantas Points (notional value of Prize is AUD $72,500) and 150 Qantas Points for each Eligible Entrant with a notional value of AUD $10. There is no limit to the number of Eligible Entrants.
7. The maximum notional value of the Prize is AU$72,500 based on a sample of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards that could be obtained by redeeming through the Qantas Frequent Flyer program (as fully defined in the terms and conditions of the program available at qantas.com/terms. For example, 8,000 Qantas Points could be redeemed for a Flex one way Economy Classic Flight Reward from Melbourne to Sydney plus AU$53 in applicable taxes, fees and carrier charges, accurate as at 24 October 2024. The dollar fare for an equivalent commercial flight totals AU$169 including taxes fees and carrier charges.
8. The estimate of the maximum notional value of the Prize is provided for information purposes only. The maximum notional value of the Prize will vary depending on whether and how it is redeemed by a winner through the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. The Promoter accept no responsibility for any variation in the maximum notional value of the Prize.
9. The Prize is awarded and must be redeemed, in accordance with and subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program (Qantas.com/terms), the Qantas Store Terms of Use (Qantas.com/store), voucher terms and conditions (including expiry rules) if relevant, and any other terms and conditions disclosed at the time of redemption.
10. The redemption of the Prize is subject to the availability of Rewards that may be obtained through the Qantas Frequent Flyer program.
11. The Prize must be taken as stated and no compensation is or will be payable if a winner is unable to use the Prize as stated. Prizes are not exchangeable or redeemable for cash or other goods or services. A Prize cannot be transferred to any other person, unless agreed to by the Promoter. It is a condition of accepting a Prize that the winner accepts the conditions of use of that prize.
12. If the Prize (or part of the Prize) is unavailable, the Promoter, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the prize (or that part of the Prize) with a Prize to the equal value and/or specification, subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority.
13. The Winner may be required to take part in related publicity, including participation in ad- hoc media or social media activity with print and broadcast media with reasonable advance notice.
14. Eligible Entrants consent to the Promoter and Qantas Airways Limited using their name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a Winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this promotion (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter as relevant to the competition, including by posting on the Surf Life Saving Australia website, on its Twitter (X), Instagram, YouTube and Facebook pages, and related Surf Life Saving Australia and its Foundation online/social media platforms.
15. If this promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter or Qantas Airways Limited, including but not limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) to disqualify any entrant; or (b) subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the promotion, as appropriate.
16. Any cost associated with accessing the promotional website/associated services is the Eligible Entrant's responsibility and is dependent on the Internet service provider used.
17. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act, as well as any other implied warranties under the Australian Consumer Law or similar consumer protection laws in the State and Territories of Australia (Non-Excludable Guarantees). Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non- Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter and Qantas Airways Limited (including its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion.
18. Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter and Qantas Airways Limited (including its respective officers, employees and agents) is not responsible for and excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter or Qantas Airways Limited’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; (e) any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant; or (f) use of a prize.
19. The Promoter(s) collects personal information to conduct the promotion and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties, including but not limited to Qantas Airways Limited, agents, contractors, service providers, prize suppliers and, as required, to Australian regulatory authorities. Entry is conditional on providing this information. The Promoter may, for an indefinite period, unless otherwise advised, use the information for promotional, marketing, publicity, research and profiling purposes, including sending electronic messages or telephoning the entrant. Entrants should direct any request to opt out, access, update or correct information to the Promoter. All entries become the property of the Promoter.
20. If the Prize is unclaimed, an unclaimed Prize draw will occur in the presence of an independent scrutineer at the same time and location as the original draw on 20 September 2025. The unclaimed Prize winner will be notified in writing with winners details published (last name, first initial and postcode) at https://www.sls.com.au within 7 days of the unclaimed Prize draw date.
